2026-04-02

March 31, 2026, Beijing. the First International Standard Project Approval Review Meeting of the Building Materials Standardization Technical Committee (WSSO/TC1) of the World Sustainability Standard Organization (WSSO) was successfully held in Beijing. Focusing on the approval and review of international standard projects in the field of building materials and related areas, the meeting gathered global industry wisdom and provided impetus for the realization of global sustainable development and the "dual carbon" goals.

The meeting was hosted by Wu Duanjing, Secretary-General of WSSO/TC1. Zhang Li, Executive Secretary-General of WSSO, gave a detailed interpretation of relevant international standard policies, clarified the core requirements and development direction for standard project approval, and awarded letters of appointment on site to the Deputy Secretary-Generals of the Sub-Technical Committees and relevant experts. This further improved and refined the international standardization expert system, laying a solid talent foundation for subsequent standard formulation work. At the end of the meeting, Li Jianwei, Deputy Secretary-General of WSSO, delivered a summary speech, affirming the standardization of the meeting process and the effectiveness of its achievements, and putting forward clear requirements for the subsequent promotion of standards.

To ensure the professionalism, authority and impartiality of the review work, the meeting gathered many authoritative experts from scientific research institutes, industry associations and the frontline of enterprises to form a high-level review team, which provided professional support and technical guidance for the approval of international standard projects. The participating experts included: Fan Deke, Assistant General Manager and Senior Engineer of China National Building Materials Zhongyan Technology Co., Ltd.; Liu Ye, Researcher and Senior Engineer of the Building Energy Conservation Research Center, Tsinghua University; Fu Lijuan, Vice President and Senior Engineer of China Building Materials Market Association; Quan Yanling, President and Senior Engineer of Beijing Building Hardware, Door, Window and Curtain Wall Industry Association; and Chen Bin, Deputy Director and Senior Engineer of the Building Materials Industry Technology Supervision and Research Center. This multi-field, high-standard expert team provided a solid guarantee for the scientificity, foresight and international applicability of this international standard review.

The core session of the meeting focused on the centralized review of 13 proposed international standard projects, covering multiple key areas such as wind power generation, low-carbon building construction, prefabricated buildings, green building materials and green project management. Closely centered on the global "dual carbon" goals and sustainable development needs, these standards deeply integrate the concept of green low-carbon with digital technology, which not only aligns with the industry development trend, but also is of great significance for promoting the standardization and internationalization of technologies in related fields.

Representatives of each standard proposal initiating unit made systematic and detailed elaborations on the necessity of standard project approval, technical route design, core content framework and subsequent implementation plans. Adhering to a rigorous and responsible attitude, the expert review team conducted in-depth inquiries and thorough discussions on each proposed international standard from multiple dimensions, including the necessity of project approval, the feasibility of technical schemes, the innovation of content and international applicability. Combined with industry realities and the international development status, the team put forward targeted optimization opinions and improvement suggestions, pointing out a clear direction for the subsequent formulation and implementation of the standards.

The successful holding of this review meeting marks a solid step taken by WSSO in promoting the construction of the international standard system in the field of building materials and related areas and standardizing industry development. It also builds an important platform for China to participate in the formulation of global sustainable development standards. In the future, WSSO/TC1 will continue to play the role of a bridge and link, promote China's advanced technologies and mature solutions to go global, continuously enhance China's voice and influence in the formulation of global sustainable development standards, and contribute Chinese strength to global green low-carbon transformation and the realization of sustainable development goals.
