Notice on Public Solicitation of Comments for WSSO SD-2025-08 " Technical Specification for the Evaluation of Carbon Labels of Alcoholic Beverage Products "

2026-03-30

To promote the sustainable development of the alcoholic beverage industry and establish a unified and authoritative global evaluation system for carbon labels of alcoholic products, the World Sustainability Standard Organization (WSSO) has completed the compilation of the Draft for Comment of WSSO SD-2025-08 " Technical Specification for the Evaluation of Carbon Labels of Alcoholic Beverage Products ", and is now publicly soliciting comments globally.

I. Core Overview of the Standard

(I) Background of Formulation

Against the backdrop of global climate change, carbon labels have become an important "green pass" for international trade of products. As a sector with both cultural and industrial attributes, the alcoholic beverage industry faces an increasingly urgent need for full-life-cycle carbon emission management. Previously, WSSO has organized an international standard seminar, bringing together experts and representatives from well-known domestic and foreign alcohol enterprises, testing and certification institutions, and scientific research institutes to conduct in-depth discussions on the necessity, core objectives, main contents and implementation plans of the standard, laying a solid foundation for the compilation of the standard.

(II) Positioning of the Standard

This standard focuses on the accounting and classification evaluation of carbon emissions throughout the full life cycle of alcoholic products, clarifies the indicator system, evaluation methods, classification rules and labeling requirements for carbon labels. It is applicable to various alcoholic products such as wine, beer, Baijiu, and distilled spirits. The purpose is to standardize the carbon emission management of the industry, guide green consumption, and help the alcoholic beverage industry achieve sustainable development and integration with international standards.
